for the long mlk weekend we drove up to colorado with some folks to do some skiing at wolf creek ski resort. drive was okay but i had more trouble skiing than i’d anticipated. it had been 10+ years since i had hit the slopes and it showed.
the weather was pretty great for the drive and couldnt have asked for a better day to get back to skiing. the sky was clear, plenty of snow and the park wasn’t so busy that i was worried about running into people every five seconds.
the view from the peak was pretty good. visibility was really far.
the next day was planned to get at least six inches overnight plus continue snowing throughout the day and it dumped a lot of snow on us. which made for an interesting drive up and down the mountain. i gave up after my legs were on fire and the volvo overheated on the way back up the mountain to pick me up. very surprising for a two year old vehicle that’s designed in a country where this should be a daily challenge.
we were able to get everyone off the mountain safely but i can’t say the same for several people we saw on the side of the road here and there.
and then the drive home back to texas.
