Oak Meadow Ranch

i think we stumbled across Oak Meadow Ranch on tiktok and I thought it looked pretty intriguing. it turned out it was pretty interesting but in other ways left a bad taste in my mouth. in a nutshell, you make a reservation and that gets you a meal (brunch or dinner) and time with the rescued exotic animals that they have on-site.

shortly after we arrived it was obvious that something was a bit off. everyone was a bit too friendly, blonde, and lots of bible verses on the walls/ buildings/etcetera. first, we sat down to brunch and got the mimosas flowing. they introduced the meal as a more traditional simple meal of eggs, sausage, sweet potatoes followed by a couple pancakes. i had been hoping for something better but I suppose it’ll push a turd.

then they set us loose with their various animal enclosures and everything really seemed to be on the up and up. they honestly seem to make a big effort to make the animals comfortable and ensure it’s a safe environment for both the animals and the people who come to interact with them.
first we’ll start with the sloth. the sloth is named Winston and it was quite the experience. very solid animal and when you stopped supporting him he grabbed on tight with his super sloth hug powers.

moving on they had two exotic cats; a serval and a caracal. they were both super chill and playful. we ended up going back later to visit with them again.

hung out with a couple kangaroos. you may notice the booties that everyone was wearing. they were very conscience of tracking feces between enclosures and lots of hand sanitizing before interacting with anyone.

they also had peacocks, tortoises, horses, deer, chickens, Scottish highland bull, longhorns and ring-tailed lemurs.

that’s about it for now
stay tuned
