the story of the day here is to get everything ready for the city to come through and do their inspections to make sure there are no leaks in the drains. they set up a huge column of water for the tub drain, the tall PVC pipe, and filled up the shower pan with water. both were plugged somehow with some plumbing magic.
you can see how much chipping away was necessary to reroute the water lines. also, I learned something new. all the soldering that was done in or below the slab had to be silver solder to ensure that it doesn’t start to corrode. makes sense but i’d never thought about it.
in the middle of all the plumbing work, the electricians were able to get in and do a bit of work. no more jetted tub so that line was reused for a new gfi circuit. can’t have too many outlets.

everything looked good but unfortunately, the city decided they were too busy for us today. they were able to do some more sheetrock work.

not only was the foundation work more than expected but when the inspector came by the next day he mentioned that we would need to get ‘an engineers letter’. more fun. with the extent of the foundation that was removed and replaced they had to go through and reinforce the new sections with rebar. that meant more delays and concrete drilling. luckily I only had to hear if from a couple rooms over. the guys actually doing the work had to put up with a bunch of noise for DAYS.

with the plumbing mostly taken care of they started on the stone shower walls. super exciting to see the natural stone go up but that’s not going to happen this week.

stay tuned
