waaaaaay back in august of 2021 we started talking with a contracting company to redo our master bath. no big deal, right? well, yes and no.
the process was pretty painless but came with a huge price tag that was a bit bigger than we had expected but I’m sure it’ll be worth it in the long run and whoever buys our house should be happy to have something that’s been recently updated.
first we’ll start with some old shitty pictures of how it looked when we bought the house. not much had changed but like the geneses we are, no ‘before’ pictures were taken for this project. take note of all the lovely brass finishings.

So, next we start the waiting game. having signed all the paperwork on September 1st, a Wednesday, I thought surely by the end of the year we’d get started on the demo and maybe finish everything by new years. ha. delay after delay would ensue before I finally asked them to get started without all the materials being available on hand. apparently, many of the suppliers just shut down during the pandemic so several of the fixtures we picked weren’t available.
six months after signing the contract and cutting a huge check we actually start to see some work being done. part of me wonders what they did with our money during the six months because it seemed like they got an interest-free loan from us.
the demo begins
march 9th we finally get started with the demo work. tub, gone. mirror, broken. fun wallpaper that was behind the mirror. bizarre pattern for a house that was built in the 90s.

demo continues on march 10th as the vanity goes and this was our first hiccup. the plumbing all comes from beneath the slab foundation and several things are moving which means the water lines need to move. the jackhammering starts.

more demo and lot’s more chipping away at the concrete slab. the drain for the shower moved along with the water lines and drain for the tub plus the water lines for one sink need to be relocated so they can be run up through the wall. luckily I wasn’t working during this so I could just leave. i can’t imagine trying to participate on any phone calls with this much noise.

and that’s what we were left with on Friday march 11th.
stay tuned
